Engage individuals and congregations in a

We are here on behalf of The Unitarian
Universalist Legislative Ministry of Virginia. We are a
statewide organization of Unitarian Universalists working for
change. Unitarian Universalist Principles guide us in creating a
more just world by being an active voice in the public arena.
The Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism guide our
advocacy by supporting bills that ensure the inherent worth and
dignity of every person are upheld and that there is justice,
equity, and compassion with a goal for peace, liberty, and
justice for all.
Ensuring Virginians have access to high
quality and affordable healthcare is a priority.
Ensuring income equality is important in upholding our
values. Raising the minimum wage, Earned Income Credit and
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are all programs
that help families out of poverty.
Ensuring Virginians have true representation in the
legislative branch of the government that is free from
corruption is a priority for a free and democratic society.
While we are focusing on Income
Equality, Health Care Expansion and Voting Rights and
Redistricting, there are many other bills that support.

The Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Virginia is
one of the UU State Advocacy Networks (UUSANs). Over half
the states in the US now have UU State Advocacy Networks and we
are making a difference at the state level from gaining marriage
equality for same gender loving couples, to repealing the death
penalty, to enacting important environmental legislation, to
getting immigrant family friendly Trust Acts passed, to raising
state minimum wages. In
our work, we acknowledge the importance and value of a religious
voice in the public debate.
Each Network is locally based, led by UUs working under the
basic principle that sustained, positive change is built through
the work of organized activists with the courage to challenge
and confront oppression. And the “Network of State Networks’ is
pulling together on federal campaigns as well. Through this
work, we seek to build our faith and give voice to Unitarian
Universalist Principles in the public arena. UU state
networks work with interfaith partners and justice organizations
in their states. Watch
the new video,What

video that debuted at General Assembly. It
is about the work of the UU State Advocacy networks, including
the UU Legislative Ministry of Maryland. It demonstrates
how UUs are coming together across the country to work for our
UU values on both the state and national levels.
